Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has demanded parts of eastern Ukraine in his peace proposal during his meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska, according to reports. Putin’s peace proposal reportedly involves Ukraine ceding Donetsk and Luhansk to Russia. Most of Luhansk is under Russian control, while Ukraine has control over parts of Donetsk. Putin has reportedly offered to freeze the frontlines in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. Putin has also ruled out a ceasefire until a peace deal is reached. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that a direct peace deal without a ceasefire would complicate the situation. He has rejected ceding Ukrainian land to Russia multiple times. He will meet US President Donald Trump on Monday to discuss the peace proposal.
